Equipment Operator

Beginning Salary:$23.00-25.00 per hour

Summary: This is semi-skilled manual labor. Employees in this class require manipulative skill at what could be generally categorized as the journeyman level. It requires some electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. It involves both light and heavy physical labor in testing, operation, maintenance and repair of water and sewerage systems and components. The employee is expected to work with a minimum of supervision. Most work will be assigned in a priority order by the supervisor. However, the employee will be required to schedule routine, repetitive type work such as preventive maintenance, on a regular basis. The employee must be capable of working at considerable heights above the ground.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  2. Two (2) years of experience in the utility field
  3. Obtain specialty certification, must be able to obtain within two (2) years.
  4. Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States.
  5. A criminal background check will be performed for this position.
  6. Must have valid Alabama driver’s license and good driving record. CDL preferred.

Animal Control Officer

Beginning Salary:$15.00 per hour

This is routine field work involved with the enforcement of some various laws and ordinances established by the City Council of the City of Millbrook, Alabama relating to the care, control, and regulation of dogs and various other animals.  The Animal Control Officer exercises considerable independent judgment in the daily operation with the supervision of the Police Chief or other assigned supervisor.

Applicants must have knowledge of humane methods for animal collection, care and disposal, knowledge of various laws and ordinances of the State of Alabama and the City of Millbrook concerning animal control, and knowledge of the geography of the City of Millbrook and Millbrook’s Police Jurisdiction. This person should be able to remember names, faces, and details of incidents and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. This person must be able to deal courteously, but firmly with the public.  This person must be able to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses of action, with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances. 

Qualifications are that the applicant be a high school graduate or equivalent.  Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Building Custodian

Beginning Salary: $12.50 per hour

The building custodian under general supervision, prepares cleaning solutions; performs cleaning tasks to include furnishings, equipment, windows, doors, restrooms, walls, and maintains floors.  The building custodian will also collect trash and empty garbage.  This position maintains the grounds surrounding the building. 

Applicant should have considerable knowledge of cleaning methods as well as grounds maintenance.

This position may require prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, and reaching.   Applicant must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  The work environment may become stressful at times.   Applicant must be able to work varied shift schedules.

Qualifications are that the applicant be a high school graduate or have their GED.

Fire Medic III (Full-Time)

Beginning Salary: $18.00 per hr + hazard duty pay

This position will be divided between fire suppression and emergency medical services.   Fire-Medics will handle both types of emergencies, fire and ambulance.  Applicants will work in unity with the volunteer members of the fire department.   Applicant must be an Alabama State Certified Firefighter and an Alabama State Certified EMT III level.   Applicant will provide medical care and firefighting protection to the citizens of the City of Millbrook and it’s police jurisdiction. 

This position will also require applicant to perform vehicle maintenance, station maintenance, and other non emergency duties as prescribed by the Fire Chief.  Applicant will perform fire inspections on building and dwellings as well as inspections of fire hydrants and fire prevention classes for the public.

This position may require prolonged periods of time sitting and standing.  This position will require some heavy lifting.  The work environment may become stressful at times.  Applicant must be able to work shift schedules, to include weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications are that applicant be an Alabama State Certified Firefighter and Alabama State Certified EMT III level.

Police Officer

Beginning Salary:              $22.00 per hour + Hazard Duty Pay

This is general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.  This position normally consists of routine patrol, preliminary investigations and traffic regulation duties in a designated area on an assigned shift and which may be performed in cruiser cars, on motorcycles, or on foot.  This position may involve an element of personal danger and employees must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies.  This employee may be assigned to work on special assignments which call upon specialized abilities and knowledge usually attained through experience as a uniformed officer.

Applicants must have some knowledge of police methods, practices and procedures and ability to apply this knowledge to specific situations.  Applicant should have some knowledge of the geography of the city and the location of important buildings.  This person should be able to remember names, faces, and details of incidents and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.  This person must develop skill in the use of firearms.  This person must be able to deal courteously, but firmly with the public.  This person must be able to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses of action, with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances. 

Qualifications are that the applicant be a high school graduate.  Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.  Applicant shall meet the minimum standards for law enforcement officers as established by Alabama Law (State of Alabama Act No. 1981, H. 732, 1971 regular session).
