Economic Development Department

The City of Millbrook is open for business!

The mission of the City of Millbrook’s Economic Development Department is to provide assistance and resources to the business and development communities for the purpose of attracting, retaining and expanding employment opportunities for area residents while stimulating the local economy and expanding the local sales and property tax base.

Our primary objective is to attract and encourage retail and commercial development to the City, such as restaurants and retail shops, as well as to create jobs here in our community.  The City strives to create and maintain a positive business climate and achieves this through close relationships with members of its business community, the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce and the Elmore County Economic Development Authority.

Here are just a few reasons to consider Millbrook for your business location:

  • Easy access at Interstate 65 – Exits 176, 179, and 181.
  • Key commercial corridors with Alabama Highways 14 and 143 with strong traffic counts.
  • High profile commercial sites on Interstate 65 at Alabama Highway 14 and Cobbs Ford Road.
  • 8.5% sales tax rate – lower than surrounding major municipalities.
  • Sanitary sewer system owned by the City of Millbrook.
  • Just ten miles north of Montgomery, the state’s capital city, offering urban convenience and suburban amenities.
  • Quick access to four hospital systems, eleven major colleges, universities, and vocational schools located within a 75-mile radius.
  • Wetumpka Municipal Airport, a general aviation facility, is located within two miles of the Millbrook city limits and the Montgomery Regional Airport is approximately 20 miles from Millbrook.
  • Maxwell Air Force Base and Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex located ten miles south of Millbrook, near downtown Montgomery.
  • Plenty of land for development.
  • Incentives for retail and industry are considered on a case by case basis and include rebates/abatements, infrastructure improvements and project specific opportunities.
