The City of Millbrook’s Cultural Arts and Special Events Department is dedicated to enhancing the city’s cultural vibrancy and strengthening community connections through diverse artistic and special event programming. By providing access to enriching cultural experiences, fostering a strong sense of belonging, and supporting local economic growth, the department plays a vital role in the city’s development.
Millbrook’s Cultural Arts and Special Events Department operates within the Millbrook Art Mill, a vibrant community arts facility dedicated to enriching the city’s cultural landscape. Designed to engage residents in visual, literary, and performing arts, the Art Mill enhances Millbrook’s quality of life through creative expression. It features an art studio, music studio, and gallery space, providing a platform for local artists to showcase their work. Serving as a hub for classes, workshops, and summer camps, it offers opportunities for both aspiring and experienced creatives. Future plans include an indoor/outdoor pottery studio, expanding the scope of artistic offerings. ANNUAL EVENTS
- MILLBROOK MARDI GRAS FESTIVAL & PARADE – a lively annual celebration hosted by the Millbrook Revelers. The free festival features live music and entertainment, food vendors with many offering Cajun-inspired dishes, arts & crafts vendors, and family-friendly activities. The parade starts at noon, showcasing a vibrant procession of floats, marching bands, and costumed revelers through downtown Millbrook. Laissez les bons temps rouler! - FARMERS MARKET – a seasonal event open to the public held at Village Green Park in downtown Millbrook from mid-May to mid-August, every Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Visitors can shop for a variety of fresh produce, honey, farm-raised meats, baked goods, coffee, and jams, all sourced from local vendors. - TUNES ON THE GREEN – a popular community concert series held at Village Green Park in the spring and fall. These free outdoor concerts bring live music to residents and visitors, creating a lively atmosphere for all ages. Attendees can enjoy food trucks, a kids’ play zone, and a friendly community vibe. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and dancing shoes for an evening of great music!
MEMORIAL DAY, PATRIOT DAY, AND VETERANS DAY
- Millbrook hosts a Memorial Day Observance to honor fallen service members with a special tribute featuring heartfelt tributes, guest speakers, and a moment of reflection to remember those who served with courage and dedication. Join us as we honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
- On Patriot Day, Millbrook gathers to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001. This solemn observance will feature speeches, reflections, and a moment of silence to pay tribute to the victims, first responders, and all who served in the aftermath of that tragic day. As a community, we stand together in remembrance, resilience, and unity. Please join us in this meaningful tribute.
- Millbrook honors its veterans with an annual Veterans Day Ceremony. The event takes place at the Millbrook Civic Center and includes a ceremony, luncheon, and special tributes to those who have served. This tradition brings together veterans, families, and community members to honor military service.
- MAYFEST – a free community event featuring live entertainment, children’s activities, an arts and crafts market, and food vendors. Held at Village Green Park on a Saturday in May from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- BOO FESTIVAL – a free, fun-filled annual event that blends a Fall Festival with Halloween-themed activities. Attendees can enjoy fall farmers market, bike-r-treat, hayrides, costume contests, food trucks, live DJ, candy & more! Our annual Boo Festival takes place on the last Saturday in October from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Village Green Park.
SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
- TREE LIGHTING – a cherished annual event that kicks off the holiday season in Millbrook, Alabama. The event features a live nativity and storytelling, caroling, and a sing-along to classic holiday tunes, a hot chocolate bar with all the fixings, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a 100% chance of snow during the tree lighting ceremony! This Hallmark-esque event takes place on the Thursday following Thanksgiving at Village Green Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- FESTIVAL – this beloved annual event brings holiday cheer to the community and takes place on the first Saturday in December at Village Green Park. The free, family-friendly festival features local vendors offering holiday gifts, crafts, and treats, live entertainment with festive performances, family-friendly activities including games and photo opportunities, and delicious food trucks serving seasonal favorites.
- PARADE – join us on the first Saturday in December, the holiday parade begins at 2:00 p.m. at Mill Creek Park and ends at the Millbrook Economic Development Center on Coosada Road. Gather along the parade route to enjoy colorful floats, marching bands, dance performances, and community groups, all celebrating the magic of the season. Local businesses, schools, and organizations showcase their holiday spirit, spreading cheer to families and visitors alike. Don’t forget to wave hello to Santa Claus as he makes his grand appearance at the end of the parade, officially kicking off the Christmas season in Millbrook! Join us for a day of festive fun and make memories that will last a lifetime.
- OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT – a festive event that brings families together for a holiday-themed film under the stars. Attendees can enjoy a screening in a cozy outdoor setting with hot chocolate and holiday treats available for purchase, a Christmas-themed atmosphere complete with seasonal decorations, and a 100% chance of SNOW!
