Pines Golf Course Laborer
Beginning Salary $8.20 per hour
This is a routine, unskilled manual labor position. Some of the responsibilities of this position include issuing golf carts to patrons; store and clean carts; operate tractor to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas; apply lime, fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide; mow rough and fairway; operate hand or power mower to cut turf on green and tee areas; connect hose and sprinkler systems at designated points to irrigate turf; dig and rake ground to prepare new greens, grades and cleans traps, and repairs roadbeds; plants, trims and sprays trees and shrubs. The work involves both light and heavy physical labor. This position involves working in various weather conditions.
Applicants must have working knowledge of hand and power tools, be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods under various weather conditions. Applicant must be able to understand and follow specific oral instructions.
Qualifications include that applicant be 18 yrs. or older, high school graduate or equivalent and the ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Parks and Recreation Concession
Beginning Salary: $10 per hr.
This is a seasonal manual labor position that takes orders from patrons and carries food and beverages from the concession stand to the window for the patrons to purchase.
Applicants must be able to take and retrieve orders for patrons, stock coolers, wrap cooked food, make sure bathrooms are in good working order and stocked, and maintain a clean working environment. This job includes prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or bending. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to heat associated with operating grills, ovens and other kitchen equipment. Applicant must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Applicants must be able to read, understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Applicant must be able to communicate with patrons and other employees. Applicant must be able to work nights and weekends.
Qualifications: Must be at least 16 yrs. or older.
A criminal background check will be performed for this position.
Beginning Salary: $18.00 per hr.
This is general duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. This position normally consists of routine patrol, preliminary investigations and traffic regulation duties in a designated area on an assigned shift and which may be performed in cruiser cars, on motorcycles, or on foot. This position may involve an element of personal danger and employees must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies. This employee may be assigned to work on special assignments which call upon specialized abilities and knowledge usually attained through experience as a uniformed officer.
Applicants must have some knowledge of police methods, practices and procedures and ability to apply this knowledge to specific situations. Applicant should have some knowledge of the geography of the city and the location of important buildings. This person should be able to remember names, faces, and details of incidents and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. This person must develop skill in the use of firearms. This person must be able to deal courteously, but firmly with the public. This person must be able to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses of action, with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances.
Qualifications are that the applicant be a high school graduate. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Applicant shall meet the minimum standards for law enforcement officers as established by Alabama Law (State of Alabama Act No. 1981, H. 732, 1971 regular session).
Municipal Court Chief Magistrate
Beginning Salary Range: $52,000.00 to $72,000.00
This position supervises Municipal Court Magistrate operations. Responsibilities include varied administrative and supervisory duties of the municipal court department.
Administrative responsibilities include the following: Assists judge in all court proceedings. Ensures proper indexes for reference to actions and proceedings filed in court. Maintains or disposes of all records filed with the court, according to records retention schedule. Attends all council meetings, staff meetings, and work sessions. Serves as a liaison between the judge, police department, attorneys, and the public. Generates all monthly reports regarding state funds and city funds, yearly statistics report; and all reports requested by the Judge. Enters, records, and prints orders. Conducts indigent hearings. Issues Failure to Appear, Failure to Pay, and other warrants and subpoenas. Maintains custody of all case files. Certifies court records and testifies in court as needed. Interviews victims, witnesses, and law enforcement officers. Constructs complaints; establishes and determines probable cause. Prepares paperwork for arrest procedures. Issues warrants. Suspends licenses. Receives and records guilty pleas. Assesses fines and costs. Performs background checks. Responds to after-hours calls as needed. Assumes responsibility for money after cases have been adjudicated and applies to fine. Processes cash bonds.
Operations and Personnel Responsibilities: Analyzes personnel needs for department. Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and participates in the discipline process of department personnel. Maintains current legal materials for continuing education. Schedules certification training for court personnel. Attends training and education classes. Prepares budget proposals and manages approved funds. Prepares monthly financial reports and disburses funds to appropriate agencies. Manages department software applications. Develops programs and procedures recommended by the Mayor or Judge. Determines status of available personnel on a daily basis and makes “on-call” schedules and court schedules.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice or a related field preferred. Three years of experience as a Municipal Court Magistrate. Two years of supervisory experience. Possession of a Magistrate certification approved through the Administrative Office of Courts.
Applicants must be willing to work on-call and evenings during court proceedings.

This is a routine manual labor position. The work involves both light and heavy physical labor in a wide variety of construction, maintenance, repair and beautification projects throughout the jurisdiction. This position involves working in various weather conditions.
Applicants must have working knowledge of hand and power tools, be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods under various weather conditions, be able to understand and follow specific oral instructions, and be able to remember instructions and relay them to automobile or equipment operators. A working knowledge of heavy equipment is preferred.
Qualifications include high school graduate or equivalent, the ability to perform heavy manual labor, and a driver’s license with a clean driving record.
